All designers at Allogram, Inc. are encouraged to explore new product ideas whenever inspiration strikes, provided that we can prove their viability as a long-term product. I was inspired by some of the stand-offs that were being used for the floating glass plaques to create these freestanding acrylic awards.
Each design’s aesthetic and shape was carefully chosen from Allogram’s data on customer buying trends and my experience interacting and designing for their clients over five years. They are a mix of clear acrylic on the front and black acrylic in the back, which allows for easy assembly and no hardware showing from the front. With either silver or gold stand-offs in each corner to hold the piece together, the construction allows the thin acrylic to stand upright and away from the black acrylic behind it, giving structure and multi-dimensionality to the piece. Using either laser engraving or full color printing, each piece’s imprint can be customized for the client with plenty of blank space for recipient names, text, or logos.
Within a month of releasing the Acrylic Stand-off series, it had already been requested several times by customers and remains a part of the Allogram permanent collection of stock awards.
